What are the standard sizes of kitchen cabinets. The height of the kitchen cabinets. Features of selection and installation

It is necessary to take several steps: measure the area of the room and the area for the future kitchen and create an approximate design for the headset. And for this it is necessary to understand at least a little of such parameters as the height, depth and width of modular systems, their proper placement in space. After all, the convenience of using the kitchen and its appearance depend on these indicators.

Of course, any professional when ordering kitchen cabinets will be able to help you in this matter. Specially trained person arrives, measures everything for you, checks and picks it up. But even in this case, you need to at least a little understanding of the issue, because there are a number of nuances that a person from the outside may simply not know - your preferences, the growth of the hostess, the features of the future interior and much more. But it depends on each of them how convenient it will be to use the kitchen and its aesthetic appearance.

Moreover, today the sale of kitchen sets for modular systems has gained great popularity. Many construction supermarkets and furniture stores offer to purchase kitchen walls not on order, but to assemble from ready-made cabinets, standard sizes and parameters. This allows you to significantly save the budget, but in this option, knowledge of all the nuances of the correct installation of the kitchen is necessary.

Standard sizes of kitchen cabinets in the lower and upper row are significantly different. They also have different requirements for selection and installation, so it is worth considering stand-up and wall cabinets separately.

Bottom row of kitchen

Standard parameters lower modular cabinets are considered:

All parameters are closely interconnected. The height of the lower kitchen cabinet can be slightly corrected using twisting legs, which is important for tall or small people. But do not overdo it, otherwise the kitchen will cease to look organic. But the depth of the cabinets directly depends on the size of the countertop.

Most popular and the standard countertop is 60 cm. The depth of the cabinet itself in this case is usually 46 cm. It is impractical to make a countertop smaller, since the kitchen requires a good work surface, again, all built-in appliances go at least to this size. Exceptions are non-standard tiny kitchens, where it is simply impossible to place large cabinets. Typically, in such cases, cut off the countertop 60 cm to the required size. But remember that standard sinks and cooking surfaces are not suitable for you - choose a smaller size, now it will not be difficult to find such ones.

Worktop 90 cm less common, it is suitable for spacious large kitchens and individual design cabinets. The depth of the lower modules under such a tabletop will be 76 cm. If you have a small room, do not give preference to such sizes, they will steal the space, and the kitchen will look too bulky, visually displacing everything else from the room.

120 cm worktops usually used only in large professional kitchens or to create an “island” in the middle of a kitchen with a worktop and hob or as a dining table. It is convenient only if it is possible to access the cabinets from several sides and will organically look only in large spacious rooms.

Top modules

Top Rack Cabinets have the following standards:

The main parameters to keep in mind for wall cabinets are distance from bottom to top shelves should be at least 45 cm. This will help to conveniently distribute all the necessary household appliances on the working surface. At the same time, you should not be afraid of hitting your head against the cabinet, since its depth is much less than the lower part and will not bother you. Perhaps a higher arrangement of mounted modules for ease of use - adapts to each person separately. A lower canopy is unacceptable, as it will be inconvenient for you to work on the surface.

Technique that influences the choice of cuisine

there is some nuances, which can significantly affect the design of the kitchen and the choice of certain parameters and sizes. And first of all - this is a technique. The kitchen has a number of household appliances that not only affect the final appearance of the room, but also often have to adapt to them when designing furniture.

Fridge. If it is built-in, then there will not be a problem at all, but with standard refrigerators, it is necessary that it harmoniously fits into the general view of the kitchen. There are several tricks for this. For example, you can hang a narrow wall cabinet over it to even the overall horizontal line of the headset or to align the entire top row of the kitchen with the height of the refrigerator (it is possible only if the refrigerator is at least 2 m and above, but even then it is not easy to do).

Cooker or hob. The dimensions of the bottom row are always adjusted to a separate plate, because it is much easier to choose cabinets of different lengths for it than vice versa. The hob cuts into the countertop, so be careful if you already have standards. For small kitchens, small hobs for 2-3 cooking rings are perfect (now there is a large selection of compact models of various shapes).

Microwave. It doesn’t influence so much, but many people prefer to build a microwave in kitchen cabinets (usually wall mounted), then it does not occupy the desired work surface, because it is a rather large device. It can also be suspended separately, the main thing is that both options are combined with kitchen cabinets and not get out of the picture.

Knowing these standards and small nuances kitchen furniture, you can safely go to the store and confidently select the perfect kitchen.

When designing a kitchen, it is imperative to take into account existing standard sizes kitchen sets. And this is due not only to the lower cost of standard modules, but also to the fact that they are based on the principles of ergonomics.

In other words, a kitchen whose parameters are kept within certain limits is more convenient to use.

Dimensions and ergonomics

What are the parameters of kitchen modules?

So, we decided with our own hands to develop a project for a kitchen set. On the one hand, this solution is absolutely correct, because this is the only way to assemble a truly unique set of elements that meets all our requirements. But on the other hand, there is a risk of not taking into account the important nuances that are well known to professional furniture makers.

These nuances include the generally accepted sizes of the elements of the kitchen interior.

And to observe them is very important, since a retreat can lead to unpleasant consequences:

  • Firstly, the basis of all standards in the dimensional grid is the idea of ergonomics of the kitchen, i.e. Each item should be as convenient as possible.
    If the furniture is higher or lower than necessary, it will simply be inconvenient to work behind it.
  • Secondly, the manufacture of a headset according to the approved scheme ensures the operability of all its parts. If you ignore the rules, that is, there is a risk of a situation in which one of the drawers does not open, then the other interferes with it.
  • Well, the third important factor is the price. A kitchen set with dimensions included in the standard "grid" can be made without reconfiguring the equipment. Consequently, the cost of such furniture will be approximately one third lower.

The dependence of the size of kitchen furniture and human height

What do these indicators depend on?

Naturally, the main factor determining which furniture will be as comfortable as possible is the growth of the person who will use it:

  • For example, if we cut products into, then the optimal height will be that which allows us to perform all operations without bending, i.e. with the most even back.
  • On the other hand, a tabletop that is too high will not allow us to exert enough effort, and with intensive work we will get tired hands that are constantly “on weight”.
  • The same applies to the depth of the countertop (the distance from its outer edge to the wall). A too narrow work surface is inconvenient because there will be little space on it. Too wide is also not very good, since you have to reach for its far edge.
  • The location of the upper kitchen modules also depends on the person’s height. Hangers should be positioned so that we can reach our upper shelf by hand.

You can evaluate how the convenience of working in the kitchen depends on growth, if you watch the videos posted on our website.

Note!
  All sizes shown in this article are standard and are designed for a person with an average height of 170-175 cm.
  If your growth differs up or down, then you need to make the appropriate adjustments.

Zoning space

To ensure that all furniture is not only optimal in its parameters, but also functional, experts divide the entire headset into so-called visual zones:

  • From the floor to a height of 40 cm - a very low zone. Kitchen utensils should be stored here, which are rarely used, because access to this area is difficult. Accordingly, the optimal layout of this area will be wide drawers and shelves.
  • 40-75 cm - low zone. Not too convenient for access, but it provides a good overview. Ideal for storing small household appliances and utensils.
  • 75 - 190 cm - middle zone. Here comes the countertop, above it, as well as the lower part of the hinged drawers. This zone is used most actively.
  • 190 cm and above - a high zone. It is rarely used, because for comfortable manipulations you will need to stand on a chair. You can store light objects here, as there is a risk of them falling.

This classification is very arbitrary, but it makes it possible to plan the storage space for kitchen utensils at the design stage of the kitchen.

Headset dimensions

Lower modules

Now it's time to go on to describe the dimensions of the basic elements of a kitchen set.

And we will start from the bottom of it:

  • The optimal height of the lower module, taking into account the countertops, is 850-950 mm.
  • The height of the kitchen base is at least 100 mm.
  • The depth of the countertop is 600 mm. Less common are models with depths of 900 and 1200 mm, as well as narrow tabletops of 450 mm.
  • The depth of the lower drawers is 460 mm (the standard depth of the drawer is 450 mm, another 10 mm is the gap between the back wall of the cabinet and the drawer).
  • The width of the swinging facade is 300-450 mm. The total width of one should be no more than 900 mm.
  • The optimal height of one shelf in the lower kitchen module is 200-400 mm. Thus, in one cabinet you can fit two or three shelves.

Note!
  Some elements of the lower module have their own standardized dimensions. For example, the standard size of the bottle in the kitchen is 150 mm.

Note!
  Here are the so-called "full dimensions" - i.e. figures indicated taking into account all protruding parts, with the exception of furniture handles and attachments.

Top module

One of the most important parameters of the upper kitchen module is the distance between the countertop and the bottom edge of the wall cabinets. This is due to the fact that with insufficient distance, it is difficult to view the far edge of the countertop, in addition, when performing work in the kitchen, there is a risk of touching the hinged module.

On the other hand, the higher the wall cabinet is located, the more inconvenient it is to use - you have to stand on tiptoe or use a chair.

  • The optimum distance from the countertop to the mounted modules is 450 - 600 mm (depending on height).
  • The height of the upper modules is 700-900 mm.
  • The depth of the wall cabinet is 300 mm.
  • Wall cabinet of angular type -600x600 mm wide.

A separate element of the upper module is a niche cabinet for the installation of a microwave oven (pictured). Typically, such a cabinet is made 350 mm high and is equipped with a remote bottom shelf 350 mm deep.

Kme lockers, an important element of the upper module is the hood. When designing a headset, the placement of this part should also be considered.

Despite all the above numbers, the standard size of a kitchen unit is largely advisory in nature. Of course, you need to strive to comply with these dimensions, but if you think that an element of a non-standard size will be more convenient for you, it is quite possible that you will find "width =" 640 ″ allowfullscreen = "" frameborder = "0 ″>

The operation manual of the hoods advises to withstand such dimensions:

  • The height of the hood above the gas stove is 750-850 mm.
  • The height of the hood above the electric stove is 700-750 mm.

Despite all the above numbers, the standard size of a kitchen unit is largely advisory in nature. Of course, you need to strive to comply with these dimensions, but if you think that an element of a non-standard size will be more convenient for you, it is quite possible that you will be right!

The facade of the kitchen furniture determines the appearance and style of the kitchen. This is one of the main details in the interior, creating the impression of the room as a whole. Comfort and convenience depend on the size and type of doors of kitchen cabinets. The design of modern furniture allows you to create an ergonomic space in which each piece of kitchen utensils takes a convenient place and in which you can store large quantities of products.

Kitchen facades in the kitchen should be comfortable

Making kitchen furniture with your own hands has a number of advantages and disadvantages.

Here are some undoubted advantages:

  • the ability to choose the right sizes   (mostly width);
  • you can install any number and any type of kitchen drawers;
  • create the right combination of cabinets;
  • place kitchen appliances at your discretion, choose the right one;
  • choose any material for the facade and add;
  • the ability to combine materials for the design of facades   (wood, glass, plastic);
  • the ability to create different types of cabinets in, placing them in the kitchen at your discretion (cupboards, cupboards, cupboards, cabinets and so on).

You need to consider the cons:

  • the owner who decided to make cabinets independently must have certain skills, otherwise there may be quality problems;
  • you must first create a plan, drawing or;
  • it will take a lot of time to select materials,, ;
  • this work is time consuming.

Consider how much appliances will be in your kitchen

To carefully choose the sizes you can use.

When deciding to make furniture with your own hands, you must remember that the main criteria will be:

  • convenience in operation;
  • practicality in cleaning;
  • functionality;
  • attractiveness;
  • harmonious combination with wall decoration and the possibility of combining with interesting decor.

But if you are not afraid of difficulties kitchen set get exclusive

Determine the size

The size of the cabinets is an important detail in the interior. In this case, it is not so much about beauty and style, but about convenience and ergonomics.

Even if the cabinets are made with your own hands, you should not choose the necessary dimensions yourself, it is better to take existing standards as a basis.

Lower

Lower drawers are convenient for oversized utensils

The size of the lower cabinets depends on the size of the stoves, built-in washing machines and dishwashers. If the sizes are different, then inevitably there will be difficulties with the placement of household appliances. You can afford to make the lower cabinets a little higher if there is such a need, but you need to limit yourself to 90 cm, otherwise it will be uncomfortable even for a tall housewife. At the same height should be located and.

With the width of the cabinets, the situation is somewhat simpler, any size options are possible here, but you should still adhere to the basic standards, because they are time-tested and most convenient.

Top

Here's how to beat the small top drawers

Their size does not depend on the size of household appliances, they are usually not placed there. Their width depends on the bottom. Corner cabinets have a width of 60 cm. It is important that the upper cabinets have a shallower depth than the lower ones.

Another size is important: the distance between the upper and lower cabinets should not be less than 45 cm.

Standard swing door width

There are classic sizes of swing cabinets that you should stick to.. First of all, because if they are too wide, it will be inconvenient when opening, the doors in the open position will take up a lot of space, and this will have to be taken into account when arranging the rest of the furniture. In addition, wide cabinets - this is a large interior space, which means that it is inconvenient for dividing kitchen utensils according to their purpose or observing the correct product neighborhood. If, on the contrary, the cabinets are too narrow, then they simply will not be suitable for storing most of the kitchen utensils and products. Therefore, it is worth considering the existing standards:

Such doors can not be seen in most kitchens.

  • lower single leaf: 30-50 cm;
  • bivalve: 60-100 cm;
  • angular: 90 cm.

It is worth saying about the depth of the cabinets: the standard in this case is 50-55 cm.

The width of the upper cabinets may differ from the width of the lower ones: two narrow upper cabinets can be made so that the width of both of them is equal to the width of one lower one.

Height: what should be

Choose the height based on the growth of the hostess

The lower cabinets must be 85 cm high with the worktop. This is the optimal size for stoves and built-in washing machines. If the sizes are different, then inevitably there will be difficulties with the placement of household appliances.

You can afford to make the lower cabinets a little higher if there is such a need, but you need to limit yourself to 90 cm, otherwise even a tall housewife will be uncomfortable.

Upper Cabinets Height

If you are not tall, do not hang upper cabinets too high

The height of the upper cabinets depends on the height of the ceiling and the wishes of the hostess. Standard height 98 cm. But it can be either increased if the ceilings are very high, or reduced if this is the desire of the hostess.

But do not abuse it. If the upper cabinet is much longer than the lower, then with such a violation of proportions the harmony of the entire interior is violated.

With high ceilings, it is better to make additional (in this case, open look good) shelves located above the headset by the type of border.

But too low will not look harmonious

If on the contrary, the cabinets are greatly shortened, then the size of the kitchen will visually decrease noticeably, therefore, in the case of a small growth of the hostess, you can store rarely used equipment on the upper shelves or have a special ladder-bench.

We select a convenient option

Make the kitchen fancy

Kitchen furniture is diverse, and therefore it is important to choose the right one.

When developing the lower cabinets take into account:

  • placement of kitchen appliancesBased on this, select the required amount;
  • selected style   (some styles require camouflage of kitchen appliances behind the facades);
  • the number of kitchen utensils and the presence of large items (pots with a volume of more than 6-7 liters, large cauldrons, pans, baking containers and so on);
  • variety of cooking utensils;
  • number of stored products;
  • necessary size of the working area.

Hinged cabinets are more suitable for storing large volumes of products and utensils, if a lot is prepared in the kitchen and at the same time using a wide variety of equipment, then for its storage it is better to have different furniture options, such as hinged cabinets, and drawers and doors with lifting mechanism.

When it is more convenient drawers.

Drawers are increasingly popular

Drawers allow you to optimally conveniently place kitchen utensils and products, they provide comfort when working in the kitchen. Modern kitchen furniture is equipped with both horizontal and vertical drawers. They may have additional inserts and baskets.

Horizontal drawers are convenient for storing small kitchen equipment, which is laid out there in special organizers. Horizontal drawers are also convenient for storing a large amount of heavy equipment and food stocks, especially since modern metaboxes can store up to 50 kg of products or equipment. Vertical drawers are convenient for storing small containers with spices and small kitchen equipment

An interesting variant of the kitchen corner with drawers

The main drawers are arranged in the bottom row of cabinets. Small drawers for storing various trifles are better for the top row. Often drawers are installed in the remaining free space under household appliances, for example, under the oven, this makes it possible to rationally use the entire kitchen space.

In modern kitchens, a convenient horizontal drawer is designed.

Swing doors

Swing doors are a classic

For cabinets, both the lower row and the upper, classic swing doors are convenient. It is they who set the desired style of the kitchen, look at any layout, can be made of any material, including glass. With such doors, there is a complete overview of the contents of the cabinet, if you select good ones. They can be supplemented with any fittings, which is important for creating an interior.

Lifting gears

The lifting mechanism must be supplemented with a closer

For kitchen furniture, convenience and functionality have always been the main requirements. Vertically opening upper cabinets are much more convenient than swinging cabinets, if only because they do not interfere with movement in the kitchen when the cabinets are open and they are less traumatic.

  - a convenient invention for cabinets in the kitchen, in addition, they are distinguished by a variety of types. They differ:

  • according to how the facade opens: up, down, in a universal way;
  • on the device mechanism: automatic or step by step;
  • according to what trajectory describes when opening: parallel, at an angle;
  • by type of facade: folding or rear.

With such diversity, choosing the most convenient mechanism is not difficult. Some types of facades allow you to conveniently design a lifting mechanism for doors of the lower tier, for example, in the case of a folding type of facade.

Drawers

If you approach the solution of the issue with fiction, the kitchen will be interesting and convenient

The sizes of drawers are usually limited by the dimensions of the cabinet in which they are mounted. At the same time, the boxes should not be too large in height, because at the same time they will be too large and in volume, which is inconvenient for storing both products and utensils. The optimal height of the drawers will be from 20 to 60 cm. The width of the horizontal drawers depends on the width of the cabinet, if it is a free-standing cabinet with drawers, then its optimal width will be up to 100 cm. Horizontal boxes can be between 20 and 50 cm wide.

How to determine what exactly will be more convenient, see our video:

We have it right

Interesting idea for radius facades

Swing doors can be located anywhere in the kitchen. They are always comfortable. Doors with hoisting mechanisms are usually located on the upper tier of cabinets.. They are not suitable for the lower tier, since when they are used, you will literally have to squat down and stick your head in the closet at the top placement or reach through such a door at the bottom.

Top cabinets can be replaced with open shelves

Drawer large drawers should be placed in the lower tier, having a separate cupboard according to the principle of a chest of drawers or mounting drawers at the bottom of the cabinet with hinged doors. Small boxes for cutlery, storage of bread are placed under the countertop.

Having made a kitchen with your own hands, you can give it personality

To store containers for stewing and baking, gratings, skewers, drawers are mounted under the hob or oven.

The decor of the closets will make the kitchen brighter

In the upper tier there are small drawers located under any type of door. Horizontal drawers are installed in special narrow racksfilling the remaining space between the wall and the furniture or furniture and the refrigerator and in the cabinets of the lower tier. Can be combined with closed facades.

An interesting facade will be the highlight of the kitchen

Besides the fact that you need to choose the right sizes, it is also important to choose the right material. For all the pros and cons, see our video:

It has long been noticed that the more cabinets, drawers of different sizes and different devices, the more convenient the kitchen. And with the help of different types of cabinets and facades, you can emphasize the selected style of kitchen design.

Kitchen furniture is a purely individual type of interior. It should ideally fit into the dimensions of the room and be not only beautiful and comfortable, but also functional. That is why many craftsmen prefer to make it with their own hands, using the actual size of the room.

However, already at the initial stage, which consists in designing, there are small difficulties with dimensions. If the height of the drawers of the lower and upper row is relatively understandable and performed according to the user's convenience or according to standards that are 850 mm for the bottom and 700-900 mm for the top, then the depth of the upper kitchen cabinets and lower cabinets can be completely different and may depend on the function each individual box.

Bottom row

First of all, it should be noted that this parameter is directly related to the material from which the countertop is made. As standard, they have a width of 600, 900 and 1200 mm. It is on the basis of these three sizes that the idea of the lower drawers is formed. However, they are optional and can be trimmed if necessary.

Worktops 600 mm

  • Typically, in this embodiment, the depth of the kitchen cabinet is 460 mm.
  • Making it smaller is simply impractical and unprofitable, and the structure itself will no longer allow it, since it is necessary to take the distance to drawers and the gap between the wall and the rear wall.
  • This size can be considered standard and it is used on numerous advertising photos or standard projects.

Advice! Using a countertop of this size, it must be borne in mind that when aligning some niches and angles, its entire surface is simply not enough. Therefore, in such places it is necessary to take a little more material.

Worktop 900 mm

  • Such material is well suited for large and spacious kitchens.
  • Usually the depth of the kitchen cabinets located below it is 760 mm.
  • This size is used to create boxes that should be located in a niche.
  • They are also used in exclusive furniture, which has an extraordinary shape or design.
  • In drawers of this size, it is good to store large dishes or various household appliances.

Advice! Do not use wide countertops if the overall length of the kitchen is small. The furniture obtained as a result of this combination will be angular and ugly.

Worktops 1200 mm

  • This type of countertop is used quite rarely, since many video instructions on design skill recommend avoiding large and open planes, which are very bulky and unaesthetic.
  • Typically, this material is used to create dining tables in the tone of the wall.
  • Also in industrial kitchens, large work surfaces are made from them, which can include several stages of culinary processes.
  • Their price is quite high, and the ability to place things in space under such a cabinet justifies itself only if an approach from two opposite sides is provided to such a table.

Advice! A large countertop looks good in the middle of the kitchen when it presents both a dining table and a work surface. Such design projects are very popular in the north of the USA.

Top row

From the countertop fixed on the lower cabinets to the bottom of the upper drawers, the installation instructions recommend that 450 mm be retreated. So, get free spacesufficient for work and not distinguished by its emptiness. It should be noted that the depth of the kitchen wall cabinets is calculated by two methods.

First method

  • The purpose of this method is to ultimately get a neat-looking furniture that will look good from the side.
  • Such beauty is achieved by the correct combination of the upper and lower parts of the wall.
  • That is why the standard depth of the hinged kitchen cabinets is taken from half the width of the countertop. Therefore, it is 300 mm.
  • It is worth noting that this size not only looks good, but is also very practical, because it allows you to accommodate a standard dining plate.
  • If the depth of the upper kitchen cabinets is less, then such furniture can be classified as defective. She will not cope with her functions, but will only fill the space.

Advice! In the same way, sizes are also selected under the width of the countertop 900 mm. They will be equal to 450 mm.

Second method

  • This method is based on the fact that the depth of the hinged kitchen cabinet should fully comply with the purpose specified by the designer.
  • In this embodiment, all the boxes get completely different sizes, and after installation they create the necessary composition.
  • However, even with this type of manufacturing, the depth of the kitchen top cabinets cannot be less than 300 mm.
  • Also pay attention to the external ratio. If the upper box is the same width as the bottom, then the space between them, which is called the working area, will be very difficult to use. This is also taken into account when designing a kitchen.

Advice! This method is best used when working with worktops 900 mm wide. So, the furniture will be not only aesthetically beautiful, but also very practical.

Height

  • If the depth of the kitchen wall cabinet or the lower section with the countertop can vary in accordance with the needs of the user, then the height is usually taken as a constant value.
  • For the lower drawers it is 850 mm. This size includes a socle with a height of 100 mm and a countertop that has standard parameters (28, 38, 40 mm).
  • The height of the upper row is also constant, but only depending on how deep the wall cabinets in the kitchen will be used. In the standard version of 300 mm, it will be 700 mm.
  • Further it increases from depth, but does not exceed 900 mm.

Advice! The long drawers of the upper row look good in rooms with high ceilings. They fit perfectly into the interior and look great from the side.

Typical kitchen wall design with cabinet placement

Wall cabinets today are used in almost every kitchen, because they can save space if they are attached to a free wall. Therefore, the question of depth, size and fixtures for wall mounted kitchen cabinets is of concern to almost all housewives and hosts. Since each wall cabinet can serve for a specific purpose, namely the storage of dishes, bulk or even household appliances, the dimensions and fixtures for such furniture will also differ.

Standard sizes of wall mounted kitchen cabinets

If you come to the store and want to buy a set of kitchen wall cabinets, you will see that the entire range of kitchen furniture will consist of standard sizes. The standard sizes of kitchen wall cabinets have the following parameters - the height can be 36 cm, 72 cm or 92 cm. Sometimes, when buying the whole kitchen, not a single cabinet size may suit you. But at the request of the buyer, furniture stores and companies to order can produce kitchens that will already be equipped with cabinets of the sizes you need.

The standard depth of kitchen wall cabinets reaches 30 cm. If you need cabinets with a greater depth, then you have to buy such furniture to order. If the cabinet is needed with less depth, then it will not only have to be bought to order, but also take into account the sizes of those items that will be stored in it.

The height of the kitchen cabinets does not have standard indicators. Manufacturers of kitchen furniture have different attitudes to such indicators, more precisely, if you want to purchase a standard kitchen set as a whole, then the height of wall cabinets can vary from 25 cm to 100 cm.

Changing the size, height, depth or width of the wall cabinet will certainly affect the cost. Do not think that a wall cabinet smaller than standard sizes will cost less.

How to choose the depth of the wall cabinet for different functions

The depth of the wall cabinet is determined by the function of its use. To know the exact depth indicators of the wall cabinet, you need to measure the dimensions of the items that will be in it. In addition to this, it is important to take into account some more nuances. More about them:

  • Tabletop dimensions. This work surface should preferably be 60 cm from the wall. Accordingly, the wall cabinet should not be deeper than the countertop itself, otherwise you will not only get uncomfortable working in the kitchen, but also injuries. The average depth of a wall cabinet for a countertop of 60 cm has a result of 30 cm. To determine the appropriate depth of a wall cabinet for countertops of other sizes, just bisect the depth of your worktop in half and get the exact and most optimal result.

  • If you decide to integrate an oven in a wall cabinet, then you will need to accurately measure the dimensions of the equipment in advance and only then select the dimensions of the furniture. Accommodation oven at eye level or in an approximate area is the optimal solution, both for the safety of children, and for the convenience of the hostess. Remember that the size of the built-in appliances must match the internal dimensions of the cabinet, not the external ones.
  • The greater the depth of the upper wall cabinets, the more the kitchen will need additional lighting. In addition to the fact that the main lamp is not enough for lighting, deep wall mounted cabinets will darken the countertop's working surface even more, so you will need to take care of additional spotlights or lamps under the wall mounted cabinets.
  • Remember that the large depth of the wall cabinet will necessarily require a very strong attachment. Otherwise, overloading the cabinet with loose fastening can lead to the most unexpected consequences.
  • You should not select a too high and at the same time too deep wall cabinet, because you will be uncomfortable to use it, especially the upper shelves. In this case, it is better to place all the kitchen attributes equally in the lower and upper small cabinets or to keep on the lower shelves those items that you use most often in the kitchen.
  • If the wall cabinet will be used for drying and storing dishes, then you should remember that its depth should not be less than the diameter of the largest plate or the width of the drying itself. Usually a hanging cupboard for dishes is chosen at a depth not less than the standard.

  • If the hinged cabinet will not be mounted above the working or cutting surface, but above the dining table or kitchen corner, it is not recommended to select too large a depth. This is due to the fact that the overhang of massive cabinets over a person will bring discomfort or even become a danger if it falls.

Remember that the smaller the depth of the wall cabinet, the more accurate, elegant and lighter your kitchen will appear. Designers advise placing too deep wall cabinets in the corners of the kitchen, as this place is considered the most optimal for them, because this way they will not interfere too much with the hostess and will not darken the room so much.

The advantages of using cabinets of different heights in the kitchen

Your kitchen can be made as functional as possible even with the help of ordinary wall cabinets of different heights. For example, high wall mounted cabinets for the kitchen will perfectly cope with the closed storage of many things and items that you would not want to flaunt. And cabinets with a lower height can perfectly serve as additional shelves, for example, for flowers or other interior decor. Modern designers work real miracles with simple spotlights and wall mounted cabinets. If you place spotlights above the hanging cabinets of smaller height, then your kitchen will sparkle with new colors and mood.

Do not think that high wall cabinets have great functionality. Of course, the same applies to low models. The sizes of kitchen wall cabinets for each housewife and kitchen are selected individually.

The dimensions of the kitchen can significantly affect the size of the kitchen wall cabinets, because a small and low kitchen does not accept the installation of too massive cabinets. This does not mean that large kitchen cabinets will look harmonious and beautiful in a large kitchen. The design of the kitchen with wall cabinets of different sizes you should consider before purchasing them.

Mount for kitchen cabinets

So that the wall cabinets dutifully serve and sag on the wall for many years, the fastening should be given due attention. Before choosing a mount, you should decide what it will serve as a wall cabinet for (storage of products, items or household appliances). It is the weight of the things that will be in the wall cabinet that will affect the strength of the required fastening.

Hanging cabinets can be attached to the wall using several types of mounting mechanisms:

  • Rail or hitch
  • Mounting plate
  • Furniture hinges.

The fastening of hinged kitchen cabinets with the help of a rail or a hinge is considered the simplest and most convenient, because this type of fastening allows you to correct errors that were caused during the marking. Such a mechanism can strengthen the entire mounting structure of the hinged kitchen cabinets, which can be attached independently without additional effort. The principle of this type of fastening is that the rail is nailed to the back wall on nails without recesses. This will lead to the fact that the wall cabinet will be attached to the wall with a slight inclination forward, which may not affect the operation in the best way. To avoid such a tilt, you can nail a rail in the lower back of the cabinet, which will be the same thickness as the mounting plate.

The second method is characterized by mounting the cabinet with a recess in the rear wall. This design allows you to very accurately and evenly hang the cabinet with an overlap on the apron and butt to it. If the kitchen cabinet is hung without overlap, it is very important to monitor the level, because even the smallest skew will immediately become noticeable even to the naked eye.

The most affordable and cheapest way to fix the kitchen cabinet to the wall is the hinges, which are usually already included in the package. But this method will require more effort from the master and additional help from outsiders, because the whole process of hanging kitchen cabinets on the hinges takes several stages.

Hanging kitchen cabinets on a mounting rail is considered the easiest and most reliable way, which has many advantages:

  • The whole process of work can be independently performed by one person, which greatly simplifies such a difficult job. Simplicity of work also allows you to correctly hang kitchen cabinets with maximum accuracy.
  • Adjusting screws in this design allow a person to adjust the height of the cabinet after it has been installed on the wall. You can adjust not only the height - cabinets can be moved away from the wall or brought closer to it.

Only this way allows you to perfectly hang the kitchen cabinet, which can almost never be achieved if the cabinet is hung on simple hinges.

Fasteners for kitchen wall cabinets should be entrusted to masters who are able to accurately calculate the load and choose the appropriate fastener so that you do not have unforeseen situations in the form of falling cabinets with all the contents.
